Granite is an igneous rock formed from magma cooling in the earths crust. There are many precious minerals that make up its form that give a multitude of colour variations, which is what makes each piece unique and individual.
Granite is low maintenance and will never fade or discolour.
There are many tales about granite scratching and staining easily. These tales are not true. Granite provides outstanding stain and heat resistance and is easy to clean, making it an ideal kitchen work surface. Granite is highly scratch resistant, but not scratchproof.
Granite is one of the least absorbent stones, which makes staining unlikely.
Granite is by far the most attractive material used for kitchen surfaces as well as the obvious aesthetical qualities, granite is very durable and heat resistant. A hot pan would normally sear the surface of another countertop whereas it has no effect on granite.
Granite comes from regions all over the world. The region will depend on the colour that you choose.
As well as being beautiful to look at granite is known for being one of the hardest natural materials on the planet.
By choosing granite worktops you increase the value of your property. Everyone aspires to have granite in their home yet most people think that it is out of their budget. People perceive granite to be very expensive but it isn’t. When we have clients that automatically discount the thought of having granite due to budget, we quote for it anyway and 9 out of 10 people upgrade to granite once they know the price. So ask us and we are sure that you will be pleasantly surprised. So whether you are a house builder or homeowner granite will benefit you.
We have a very short lead-time. Usually from templating, (templating means to replicate in plywood or corex the exact shape and size of your kitchen surface area so that we can take it away and cut the granite exactly to fit), we will install your new worktops 3-4 working days later, depending on whether you have ordered a polished cut out (undermounted sink) which we require an extra day to process.
If you are having a new kitchen, the ideal time for us to template is day 3 of the installation when the base units are fitted. This way by the time we come back to install the kitchen fitter should just be completing the installation of your new kitchen. This way it all gets done much quicker than waiting until the end of the installation then templating.
